Lectors are entrusted with the crucial task of making the word of God come alive by proclaiming it for the Christian assembly. Some skills required would be: careful enunciation, sufficient eye contact, appropriate rate of speech, and proper posture and movement.
Also, a lector should possess the ability to gain and keep the attention of the listeners and have the capability to convey enthusiasm and motivate the hearers. Extraordinary Ministers of the Eucharist
Eucharistic ministers are special ministers who assist the priest in the distribution of the Body and Blood of Christ at Mass. You may also be trained to bring Holy Communion to the sick and/or homebound. A minister of Holy Communion should be one who takes their faith seriously and is a Catholic in good standing. Minister of Hospitality
The work of ushers and greeters is truly a ministry. Liturgy flourishes in a climate of hospitality. The greeter is often the first contact a person has when entering the church. Their warmth and friendliness are crucial to that person's experience of the church. Some duties include: greeting people as they arrive, helping people find a seat if it is crowded, finding gift bearers, passing the collection baskets, distributing bulletins as people leave, straightening the worship space so it is ready for the next liturgy. To assist the priest at Mass in various ways: A server will carry the cross in the procession, hold the book for the priest at different times during the Mass, help to prepare the altar, assist the priest in the washing of hands, etc. A boy or girl may serve when they are entering the fifth grade.
